Belle Tire $20 off anything coupon

While dear Husband was watching hockey tonight, I heard a commercial for Belle Tire. They are offering a $20 off anything coupon if you text them... I tried to remember the number, but couldn't! It turns out, you can also just sign up for their emails (sign up with your "coupon" email account) and receive the coupon in your email!
Just go here to sign up and then check your email- it should arrive soon. I'm not sure what all Belle Tire sells (when I asked hubby if he knew, he replied "tires." Yeah, thanks!) but maybe you can get some cheap windshield wipers, oil, etc.
You'll also be entered into a drawing for Four Tickets to the Friday, January 29, 2010 Detroit Pistons vs. Miami Heat game and dinner for four to the Pistons Buffet at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

(Thanks, Hip2Save)

Shutterfly: The deal I posted about here for Shutterfly is still good. This deal will also get you a $10 credit that doesn't expire until November!

10 cent trip to Walgreens!

I headed to Walgreens tonight to stock up on .50 peanuts and see if I could find the Glade candles on clearance. I ended up getting some other good deals as well.
Here's what I did:
Bought 2 Contour Meters in separate transactions= on sale for $14.99 and are producing $5 in Register Rewards. Used the coupon for $30 off the meter (had to be adjusted down) and just paid tax of .90 cents, but got back 2 $5 Register Rewards. (I donate these meters to church or people I know who need them)

Next transaction, bought 4 Planters peanuts on sale for $1.99, used 2 $1/2 coupons and $1/1 Walgreens coupons from Diabetes and You coupon book (find near pharmacy) = .50 each
Bought 3 Welch's grape jelly on sale for $1.50, used 3 .75/1 coupons= .75 each
Bought 1 Glade Plugins Scented Oil Nighlight that was on clearance for .87
Bought 3 Hershey's Dark chocolate bars, on sale for 2/$2 with in ad coupon (January coupon book) and used $1/1 Manufacturer coupon= free
Bought 1 Tinker Bell Valentines pack for daughter= $2.99
Paid with one of my $5 Register Rewards and paid $3.30 out of pocket, but I still have $5 in Register Rewards=  0.90 + 0.90 + $3.30 = $5.10- $5 Register Reward still to use= 0.10!!

I was excited about these deals, but I was even more excited to meet one of my readers at the store! (Hi, Amanda!!) She was so lovely and it was great to meet her. Of course, I was in sweats and hadn't a stitch of make up on since I was home with the girls all day! She was getting 4 Glade candles, used 2 $3/2 coupons HERE and got back $5 in Register Rewards and can submit for the $5 rebate  HERE as well. Sadly, they weren't on clearance at this store, but it is still a small moneymaker!

Walgreens: Glade candles moneymaker

If you are heading to Walgreens, take a peek in the candle aisle.
Here's the good news: It is being reported that Glade Fragrance Collection candles are on clearance for $1.59-$1.79.
Even better, if you buy 2 you'll receive a $3 Register Reward (like cash to use on your next purchase) or buy 4 and get a $5 Register Reward.
Better yet, there are coupons to go with this product.
And the bestest part: (I know it's not a word, I just couldn't think of what's better than "better yet") There is a rebate on these items too!
This is the best kind of deal!! Product is on sale, you have a coupon to go with it, and you'll get "cash" back for buying it, and you can submit for a rebate! = MoneyMaker!

It looks like the Earthly Awakening and the Macintosh Apple fragrances have been the ones spotted and these are the small 2oz candles.
Here's what to do: Go HERE and print a coupon for $3 off 2 Glade Fragrance (hit the back button after it's done printing to print one more)
When you go to Walgreens, see if you can buy 4 candles and use both of your $3 off coupon. You should get a $5 Register Reward back.
Save your receipt and submit the $5 rebate HERE when you buy 3 Glade items.
So, you should pay about .36 plus tax out of pocket, but get back $5 in RR and $5 from the rebate, so an almost $10 Moneymaker!

Ps: if you're heading to Walgreens, don't forget to do the peanut deal I told you about here!

FREE 3 month Trial of Amazon Prime (=Free 2 day shipping for 3 months!)

I love Amazon.com and purchase gifts on their website quite often. We bought lots of Christmas gifts on Amazon and was able to use gift cards I earned from Swagbucks (read this post here for more info). I also loved that I was able to get free 2 day shipping on all my purchases with Amazon Prime.
Here's how to get a FREE 3 month trial to Amazon Prime which will entitle you to free 2 day shipping on your purchases. (If you plan on using Swagbucks to earn Amazon gift cards, then you must get free shipping on your free purchases, right!?!?)
Here is what to do:
1) Click on this link to see the book Pride and Prejudice on Amazon.com
2) Look and see if you are automatically logged in (does it say "welcome, your name" at the top?). If so, then sign out.  (If you are NOT automatically logged in, go to step 3.) Now, get back to the Pride and Prejudice book by typing this in the search box: "Pride and Prejudice everyman's library". Click on the first one- it should also say Hardcover - Oct 15, 1991.
3) Next, click the ADD TO CART with FREE TWO-DAY SHIPPING button on the right side of the page.
4) Click Proceed to Checkout Button
5) Log in to your account if you aren't already.
6) The Free Trial offer will appear after you select the payment option (i.e. Credit Card). Dont Worry!!= You DON'T have to place the order. Just select your payment option and continue.
7) Now, review the trial offer details, then click Start My Free Trial.
8) The checkout page should confirm that you have PRIME shipping. Now you can just leave this page or click the link at the VERY bottom that says "Amazon.com home page"
9) You DO NOT have to click the "place my order" button to get the free trial.
10) Lastly, if you want to set it up so that your membership DOES NOT continue after your 3 months (it's $79 a month regular price), click on "My Account" at the very top and then scroll down to SETTINGS and click on "Manage Prime Membership".
11) Click the Do not Upgrade button then click Turn off auto-upgrade button on the popup window. Now your free trial will end in 3 months and NOT auto renew.
12) If you'd like to share this deal with 4 family members, you can enter their email information on this screen as well (at the bottom).
That's it! Enjoy your three months of free shipping with Amazon. Now, read the next post below on a great deal! :)

ps: if you have any trouble, leave me a comment below or email me and I'll help you out!

USB charging/data cable for Apple iPhone 3G $0.79!

If you need a USB charging/data cable for your Apple iPhone, Meritline has them on sale for $2.49, but you can use code MLCK401357012168T to take your price down to $0.79 with free shipping. You can order 5 at this price.

Go to Meritline to order! It does state that by using this code you consent to receiving their free e-newsletter, so maybe use your coupon/spam email account when you checkout.

UPDATE: This code is now expired, but you can still use code MLC401357012140A for $1 Off and it still ships free, so it would be $1.49 now.  Still a good price, I would think? It says this is a Limited Time offer, so I'm not sure when this code will expire!

The many benefits of coupons...

I like to think that I'm teaching my children how to be frugal. I want them to learn the value of a dollar, how to save their money, where our money comes from (God ultimately, and through Daddy's hard work), and how to tithe and be generous with their money.

One thing that cracks me up is when the girls love to clip coupons with me- they'll actually ask to help! They love to see coupons for their favorite foods and to be involved in the grocery shopping.  Now that our oldest daughter can recognize numbers, she likes to see how much the coupons are worth.  I don't think most 2 and 4 year-old's tell people, "We can't buy that!! We don't have a coupon for it!"

I remember my mom clipping coupons and sorting them in her shoe box at the kitchen table. I didn't really understand what she was doing, but I knew it involved money and groceries. Perhaps that experience has something to do with my love of coupons today. If so, I hope that I am mimicking those experiences for my girls and will create another generation of coupon clippers!

Couponing can create many teachable moments with children- not only can you show them how to be smart with money, but it can help kids practice their math skills. If you are a coupon-clipper, involve your kids and teach them that it's cool to be frugal!

Graco Stroller Recall

My mother-in-law just called me to share a Graco recall with me that she saw on Fox2 News. Apparently, some children have had their fingers amputated by the canopy opening or closing.

Name of Product: Graco’s Passage™, Alano™ and Spree™ Strollers and Travel Systems
Units: About 1.5 million
Manufacturer: Graco Children’s Products Inc., of Atlanta, Ga.
Hazard: The hinges on the stroller’s canopy pose a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is opening or closing the canopy.

You can read the full details here and see the Fox2 News story here. If you think you have one of these strollers (sold between October 04 and February 08 at many major stores) stop using it and call Graco for a free protective cover repair kit at 800-345-4109.
(Thanks, Della!)

$5 off $15 Barbie Purchase

My daughters are big Barbie fans and Barbie has a website called Pink Ticket Party where you can enter codes and win prizes. We received a few of these codes in Barbie movies and with certain dolls. We just got the Barbie & The 3 Musketeers movie and doll (which has turned my 4 and 2 year old's into fierce sword fighters and swashbuckling princesses around our house lately!) and so I went to the website to enter in our codes. Both codes apparently won us a new Barbie doll or piece of furniture which will be mailed in a voucher form. I'll save these to use as gifts, since we are drowning in Barbies over here!
Anyways, the point of all this is that I read in the terms and conditions that there was "no purchase required" to win, which got me thinking that there must be a free code available. Sure enough, go here and register and you'll see a free code. Then, see if you won!
Even if you don't win, you will be able to print at $5 off $15 Barbie purchase. Just be warned-- their coupon printer isn't compatible with Windows 7, so I wasn't able to print ours, which is just as well, but if you want to print yours, don't use a computer with Windows 7.

Lowe's Build & Grow clinic Saturday 1/23

Lowe's and Home Depot usually offer children's workshops about every other Saturday. They are free to children (usually ages 5 and up) and are really fun for kids! Dear Husband takes our oldest daughter to these almost every time they are offered. Our daughter thinks of them as a "date with daddy".
This Saturday, 1/23 Lowe's is offering a Build & Grow clinic for a Tic-Tac-Toe game from 10-11 am. You need to register here. Each child will also receive a free Lowe's apron, goggles, and little certificate and patch.

While you're registering, take a look at the other upcoming clinics and register for more. I believe they send you a reminder email, although we usually just print the registration form and then mark it on the calendar. Here are the future clinics Lowe's will be having:
Tic Tac Toe
Saturday January 23, 2010
Jewelry Organizer
Saturday February 13, 2010
Lowebot
Saturday February 27, 2010

I'll remind you of these other ones as they get closer, but here is also what Home Depot will be offering in February and March.

Text Applebees for $5 off your bill! *Day Of* only!

Here is a great restaurant coupon (one of my favorite kinds of coupons)! If you are planning on going to Applebee's, text APPLE to 69100 on the day you are planning on going. You’ll receive a text message back that states, “Show this text for $5 off ur Food purchase (today only)”.
I'm planning on calling and making sure our area Applebee's are participating with this and what restrictions there might be. If you are going to Applebee's, give it a try and let me know if it works!
Also, watch your mail for a coupon for Applebee's new "550 calories and under" menu. I received an ad in the mail today for a coupon to try one of these for $5.50! I doubt you could use both this coupon and the text coupon on the same bill, but ya never know! Wouldn't that be a great deal if you could?!?!
(Thanks, Hip2Save)

UPDATE: I called our local Applebee's and the manager knew nothing about it, so either it's fraudulent, it only works with some locations, or it's not true at all. If you have unlimited texting and you're going there regardless, it's still worth a try.

LilaGuide- get a $5 Target gift card for writing reviews!

There is a great website that I first heard about a year or two ago called LilaGuide. It is the "word-of-mouth survival guide" for parents in practically every large city. Basically, you can look up area stores, events, message boards, and parents groups and get feedback on them from other parents. You can even look up things to do with your kids on their events calendar and see what's going on around town.
If you are new to LilaGuide, sign up and enter your zip code to find businesses in your area. Then, when you have some time (10 minutes or so), sit down and write 10 reviews (click on "write reviews" tab)- it can be for restaurants, stores, parks, preschools, fitness clubs... anything! They don't have to be super long either- just your opinion and rating of the place you're reviewing.
Once you've written 10 reviews, you should get an email confirming that you'll be receiving at $5 Target gift card. Then just watch the mailbox- I think I remember it coming in a plain envelope with Target's logo on it, so don't throw it away!

It's a great way to help out other parents and earn some free money!

Great Coupon Resources

When I first started seriously couponing, I looked online for sites where I could print coupons and stumbled upon Coupon Cabin. This is a great site for both online shopping coupon codes AND printable coupons. Anytime I'm thinking of shopping at a retail or online store, I visit this site first to check for any coupons. Be sure to check it out and see if there is anything you could use!
Here are a few examples of coupons available to PRINT right now:

Kohls:
$5 off any purchase when you sign up

Payless
15% off any purchase

Hobby Lobby
40% off any single item

Chili's
Free chips & queso when you sign up (coupon will be emailed within 48 hours)

Little Caesar's
Crazy Combo for $1.99

Joanne's
50% off any single item

Another coupon website, for online codes and printables, is Retail Me Not.com. They have the same sort of features, except with Retail Me Not, you can see the success rate of coupon codes from other people's experiences. Another nice feature is that you can search for coupons in your area by typing in your zip code or for a type of coupon by typing in a category, like "Pizza".

Here is an example of a coupon code from Retail Me Not to be used at Coldwater Creek's website. A lot of people are reporting getting great deals by shopping the clearance items at Coldwater Creek.
Example: Coldwater Creek- shop online and use code WHP1031 when checking out. This will give you FREE shipping on any order.

Tips to save money on bills!

Have you noticed your bills going up in the last few months? Have you ever been charged a late fee on a bill? Here are a few tried and true tips to help you save some money this year.

Late Fees: Once in awhile it happens; you don't get that bill paid on time, for whatever reason. We have had late fees on our credit cards once in a while when we just don't get the bill in the mail on time! Once a bill was left in dear Husband's car when he was taking it to the post office and we didn't realize it until the bill was late. I HATE to be charged $30 or more for a silly mistake, so I made a call and was able to get the late fee removed!
Here's what to do: call the company and ask to speak to billing. Explain that you have been a customer for ___ years/months and that you always pay your bills on time (if this is true). Tell them you're sorry it was late this once, but it won't become a habit. Almost 100% of the time, they will waive the late fee.

Get your Bills Lowered: In our house, we have all our phone, internet, and cable services through one provider. We are happy with them, but when looking over our bills from the last year, I noticed our prices have gone up over $20 a month! So, this morning I called and was able to save $180!
Here's what to do: Call and explain that you are a loyal customer who pays their bills on time every month. You may want to add that you are happy with their service, but noticed your bills have been higher and was just wondering if there was anything they could do to help you out. It took about 2 minutes and the nice customer service rep was able to lower my bill by $30 a month for the next 6 months! That's a savings of $180!! Just be sure to be polite and truthful. If you really are thinking of switching to a cheaper provider, they may go the extra mile to keep you as a customer!

What are your tips to save some money this year?

New Milk Coupon

Remember the post about the Milk instant win game and coupons? Well, you can still play this game and print a coupon for a FREE Gallon of ANY brand Milk when you make a $100 purchase! (Remember, the $100 purchase can be your total BEFORE your coupons, NOT what you pay out of pocket! Just hand this coupon over first if you total before coupons is $100).

If you haven't used the coupon from before (free 1/2 gallon of chocolate milk when you buy two gallons), you can use BOTH coupons in the same transaction. So, you'd buy 2 gallons of white and a 1/2 gallon of chocolate and only pay for 1 gallon of white.
