The Wild Goose Chase that turned into my coupon high for the day!

I knew today was going to be a busy Saturday- we had a Easter Bunny breakfast to attend this morning and a church event this afternoon- but I really wanted to take advantage of the great Toy Story 1 and 2 deal I told you about here.
So, first I had to find a Target that had the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack of Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2 in stock.  Then I had to find someone with the Toys R Us weekly ad so that I could take it to Target to price match. Not so easy. My friend Kate and I called around to a bunch of friends to see if anyone had it. Kate even drove to a Toys R Us near her to get an ad, only to learn that the store stopped carrying ads about a month ago to save money and paper. I was ready to give up when another friend Chris called back and said she had the ad and we could borrow it! Yay!
Next, drove to Target with my (2) $10 off coupons and Kate's coupons for both movies and the ad to price match. Got to customer service and was told they could price match but they couldn't give me the Target promo of an instant $10 off when you buy both movies. I told the cashier that I was pretty familiar with their price match policy and I didn't remember reading anything about that. She asked her manager, and he said "No, one or the other" too. Well, okay... it's still a good deal. When she rang me up however, the cash register was automatically set to take the $10 off and she couldn't figure out how to override it. Another manager came over and said, "Oh well, go ahead and give it to her."
So, I was able to get 4 movies for less than $11 and each movie comes with a $8.50 movie ticket voucher to see Toy Story 3 in June, so really it was a $23 moneymaker!
My point in all this long story: it takes work, but it is worth it to use a store's price match policy. Stores put these policies in place to entice us to shop there. They design the promotions and some even offer their own coupons to make us their loyal customers. Target will be reimbursed $40 from Disney for the manufacturer coupons I used, so it's not as if they have been "ripped off". I don't always have good experiences at Target, but I was very satisfied with them today.
As I was putting the girls down for nap time today, my littlest said, "I love Target." (She's two!) I said, "Me too, honey." :)

Toy Story 1 and 2 = PriceMatch at Target for $3.98 total!

Here is a deal that I've been meaning to do all week, but have been too busy. So, even though I haven't tried it out myself yet, I want to share it with you. Just be warned that this deal will vary depending on your Target store and cashier.
You can possibly get Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2 on Blu-Ray/DVD combo for just $3.98 TOTAL!!
Here is what to do:

• Take your Toys R Us ad (or get one from there) to Target and ask them to price match the deal on Toy Story1 and Toy Story 2- this would make each blu-ray/DVD combo just $16.99 when you buy both. Hopefully your Target isn't out of these movies and will allow you to price match a "combo" deal.
• When you ring up these movies together, the Target cash register will automatically take off $10.
• Use 2 $10 off coupons from Disney Movie Rewards when you enter the UPC's from the VHS movies.(
• Total: $3.98 for BOTH movies, plus each one comes with a FREE MOVIE ticket (worth $7.50) to see Toy Story 3 in June in theaters, so really this is like a $10.02 moneymaker!!

If Target won't allow this price match or is out of the movie, it's still a good deal at Toys R Us with the 2 $10 coupons. If Toys R Us is out, Best Best and Meijer will price match as well.
I hope to still do this deal before Saturday, so I'll let you know how it goes! Has anyone already done this and can comment on how it went?

Meijer trip- lots of coupon booklets!

Sorry for the lack of posts this morning, I just got back from Meijers and I had both kiddos with me, which is always an adventure. I feel like I always spend more when I am distracted or rushed! Luckily, they had lots of free sample stations around the store, so I was able to keep the girls occupied with snacks!
I wanted to show you a few of the coupons booklets I found in the store today! Whenever I see a stack of pamphlets, I always grab a few (only if there are lots; I never take them all) to give out at my coupons classes! I have a class coming up on Tuesday and I want to give them all some great coupons to use.

I found a HUGE pile of postcards (at the front of the store by the ads) for a FREE Dr. Seuss 4x6 photo card, expire 4/3/10. I also found some tear pads for $2/2 Cheez-Its (should be great for Kmart doubles), exp 4/30/10. Then I found a Spring Savings pamphlet with over $15 in savings inside for General Mills products. Last, I found (while distracting the kids by showing them the lobsters) a booklet near the meat department called "Meijer Healthy Living Naturally" with coupons for natural and organic foods!
Next time your out at Meijer or any other grocery store, keep your eyes peeled for coupons like this!

Nightline Tonight: Couponing Segment!

Set your DVR's to tape Nightline on ABC tonight (unless you stay up that late)- there will be a segment on COUPONING!! I'm not sure what all they'll discuss (hopefully it will be positive), but I've heard that part of what they do in the segment is show two people trying to get the most bang for their buck at the supermarket using $50 and coupons.
The photo above is made out of boxes of Jello (1,016 to be exact) that were obtained for FREE with coupons. Funny, huh? Oh, and they donated the boxes to a food bank when done.

Be on the lookout in this weekend's (3/28) Red Plum coupon insert for a $3/1 Snuggle Fabric Softener liquid or dryer sheets coupon in it! Last time this coupon was out, I traded for some on afullcup.com and got a year's supply of dryer sheets for just tax! (The dryer sheets are sold at Family Dollar for $3). The bottles of Snuggle liquid is also sold at some Walmart stores for about $3. If you want go get a good stockpile started, I would trade for extras of this coupon, buy a few papers this weekend, or purchase some on ebay after 3/28!

Walgreens and $5 G-P rebate= Good deal on Vanity Fair napkins!

I was looking for a way to use the $5 Georgia Pacific Rebate (when you spend $20 before coupons on participating items) and noticed that the Vanity Fair napkins are on sale at Walgreens for $3.19 (in my area) AND B1G1 free! If you can scrounge up enough of the $0.50/1 coupons from 3/14 RP (I'm going to buy 20 on ebay for about $1.50), you can get a great deal!

Here is what I'm going to do:

• buy 14 napkins at Walgreens= $3.19 each (only pay for 7 with B1G1 free)
• total: $22.33 ( you have to spend $20 before tax for the rebate)
• use 14 $0.50/1 coupons from 3/14 RP
• new total after coupons: $15.33
• submit for $5 rebate
• Final Cost: $10.33 or $0.74 per package of napkins

If you're Walgreens is out of stock, get a raincheck. Since this isn't a RR deal, the rain check will give you the same price and you'll have time to gather up enough coupons!
Only bad news is, you'll need to include all the UPC from the napkins with the rebate!

**In Michigan, sometimes we don't get the good deals at Walgreens that other areas do. I just read on A Full Cup that other regions have these on sale for $1.99 and B1G1 free. Call your Walgreens and ask them how much they are ringing up.
