Make your own mini Volcano craft

We're on the letter V this week in Preschool and I thought the girls would get a kick out of learning about volcanos. So, along with reading some library books on volcanoes and watching some eruptions online, we attempted to do a little science experiment!

How to make your own mini volcano:

You'll need:
for the volcano-
a small water bottle
playdough
box and/or 9x13 pan or baking sheet
for the lava-
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup white vinegar
squirt of dish soap
1/4 cup water
red food coloring

Directions:
Cover your small water bottle with playdough so that it looks like a volcano. Place it on a baking sheet or pan (there will be lots of lava spilling out).
Add about 1/4 cup of baking soda to your "volcano".
In a measuring cup, mix the remaining ingredients together.
Slowly pout it into your volcano and watch it erupt!
