Pumpkin Preschool Lesson and activities

Here's a repost of what we did back in 2011 for preschool! Can't believe that was 4 years ago!!

Our Preschool lessons this week and next will be all about PUMPKINS. Here's what we'll be doing:

We have been reading some books on Pumpkins this week.
Here are some good ones:

The Biggest Pumpkin Ever
Patty's pumpkin patch
Pumpkin Fever
Duck & Goose Find a Pumpkin

We also used a lot of words that start with "P". You'll find them highlighted below.

We used some of the Pumpkin Fun Preschool Pack from 1+1+1=1- I liked the Patterns page and the "What Comes Next?"

Of course, we had to make and eat Pumpkin Pie.

We made a Pumpkin Pattern using orange and yellow Fruit Loops (you could also use Apple Jacks) and a green pipe cleaner.

We drew Jack-O-Lanterns and practiced our P's on our Chalkboard Pumpkin.

On Friday, we are going to play the Roll a Jack-O-Lantern game from Oopsy Daisy and make a pumpkin picture frame using a paper plate.

After we carve pumpkins, I'll save some of the seeds to taste and use for counting.

We'll watch this video on the history of the pumpkin.

We'll learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin and watch this life cycle video.

Try these activities with your precious preschoolers! :)
