Tip: don't be afraid to voice concerns to product companies

Yesterday we spent a fun filled day at a waterpark. The water was warm but the sun was even wamer, so I made sure to apply sunblock to my girls throughout the day to protect their fair skin.

However, when we got home last night, I noticed my 6 year old was really red. I would consider this to be her first real "sunburn". Her back looked like she hadn't had any block on at all! Luckily it didn't seem to bother her once I applied some aloe.

I immediately called the 1-800 number on the sunblock and voiced my concerns to the customer service representative. I wanted them to know what had happened so that hopefully it would be reported. Companies can't fix their products if they don't know what is wrong, right?

They offered to send me a reimbursement check or a free product coupon. Let me just say this is a name brand, expensive skin care line that I had never used before. I probably won't try them again, so I chose the check.

I don't think there is anything wrong with voicing your complaints, suggestions, concerns, and even compliments with the customer service departments. When I have a serious reason to call, I always do. And I am always treated kindly and thanked for taking the time to call and let them know.

Tip: don't be afraid to voice concerns to product companies

Frugal ABC games for preschool and kindergarten kids

We'll be starting preschool again shortly, so I'm looking for some new and exciting activities for my 4 year old daughter and niece. Rachelle at The Rosenblits sent over these ideas she is using to teach Kindergarten! I love them and can't wait to try them!

These are fun and frugal ideas for teachers and moms with little kids at home!

Ask any teacher about the cost of the items in their classroom and they could go on and on and on. I believe teaching has got to be one of the only jobs where you spend your OWN money. There are ways to keep costs down, if you get creative. Here are some ideas to get you going.
ABC order:

Alphabet Caterpillar

I made this using bottle caps from leftover bottles (gatorade, water, milk, etc.) then stuck a letter sticker (target dollar spot)  on each one. Have your child (or students) put the letters in order to make a caterpillar. You could even make a cute face for the beginning.

Silly Band Match up

This was made using alphabet silly bands from target dollar spot and a printable from www.firstpalette.com. Simply have the kids match the silly band to the correct letter.


Upper and Lowercase Matching:

Aquarium Rocks

The Dollar Tree sells clear craft rocks in two sizes. For this activity you will need a pack of big ones and small ones. Write one uppercase letter on each large rock and one lowercase letter on each small rock and let your child match them up! Permanent marker works best, but remember to write it backwards, so it's right side up when you flip the rock over! You could also use stickers, or computer printed letters glued on the back.

Laundry Clips

This game was made using a table from Microsoft Word, one lowercase letter for each box, and Dollar Tree laundry clips. Print an uppercase letter on each clip and have your child clip them next to their corresponding letter. You can also flip the activity by printing a chart with capitals and writing the lowercase letters on the clips



Sight Words:
Got more of those bottle caps? Stick letters on them and have your child build high frequency words, or fill in missing letters on words they know.
