Just yesterday I was bemoaning the fact that I had to drive down to Detroit for jury duty. I was expecting that I would be able to call the number on my summons the night before and be told not to report. That didn't happen. To make matters worse, my husband had taken the day off of work to be home with the girls if I did have to go to jury duty, but I sort of had it in my mind that I wouldn't have to go and instead we'd have a wonderful family day!
The Lord must have known I needed some perspective. You see, I was able to get in my working car with my nice hot coffee and I had the gas money to drive 45 minutes downtown. I had a nice phone that spoke directions to me as a drove (plus the detailed directions my dear hubbie wrote out) and I had the money to park. I had an umbrella to keep my dry from the rain and a coat to keep me warm. And, at the end of the day when I was eventually released, I had a healthy and happy family to come home to, a house to shelter me, and dinner plans with friends!
Sometimes it's easy to loose perspective. I once again realized how blessed I am by seeing the conditions in our major city of Detroit. Seriously, the list of all the things I have to be thankful for is so long; and I am reminded again of all the good gifts the Lord has given me.
