Even though I'm a coupon-clipping, frugal-living blogger, I am also a blog
reader. I love to read other blogs on home decorating, preschool and educational activities and lessons, religious/inspirational blogs, and more. I believe there are a lot of great ideas and a lot of wisdom out there on blogs. Just because someone isn't a published author in the editorial sense doesn't mean they don't have a lot to share and say.
One of my favorite blogs on Frugal Living is
Money Saving Mom. Crystal was one of the first to enter into this world of coupon blogging and her site is full of great ideas for living on less so you can give more and save more. This homeschooling mom of three little ones posts inspiring articles on goal setting, menu planning, ideas for earning income, advice on getting out of debt, and testimonials from people who pay cash for huge purchases!
I was honored to be asked to receive an
advance copy of her new book (her first book! way to go, Crystal!)
The Money Saving Mom's Budget. This book's subtitle says it all:
Slash your spending, Pay down your debt, Streamline your life, and Save thousands a year!"
I really enjoyed reading this book, written in the same voice and style as her blog. Each chapter offers such great advice, but I really enjoyed the chapter about chaos and clutter. It may sound strange to think that chaos and clutter can keep you from financial success, but it's true.
So many women today struggle with guilt, anxiety, exhaustion, and just generally feeling overwhelmed with life. You have too much on your plate, too many commitments, too much to do and not enough time to breathe, sleep, slow down and enjoy life. You're killing yourself with overcommitment. It's unhealthy to live life at breakneck speed, and it's likely hurting your relationships and your finances. When you have too much to do, you can't devote the time and energy to what really matters because you're spread too thin and just barely keeping your head above water.
Amen? The rest of the chapter provides helpful steps to streamline your life and set yourself up for success when it comes to making and keeping a budget!
I also love the worksheets Crystal has included in the back of the book (she's so thoughtful!) and I plan on using them! I'm definitely a list making, check-it-off kind of girl
(I will add things that I have already done to my "to do" list just for the pleasure of checking them off!!), so these will be really helpful!
Okay, so you've heard how much I love this book and you're wishing you had one of your own, right? Good News!
I have FIVE to give away!!
The book isn't released until January, so you'll have to wait to receive it! But, you can win a copy here and it will be shipped to you once it's released on 1/10.
(If you wanted to order one for a friend, you can pre-buy it on
Amazon for $11.09.)
Here's what to do:
