How to Cook Bacon in the Oven!

Bacon. One food that can be used so many ways. I pick up a package of bacon everytime I shop. We use it for breakfast with pancakes or french toast, in recipes like Cheddar Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta, or for a quick and easy BLT dinner. If there are ever leftovers pieces of bacon (rarely happens, am I right?) we use it to spice up a plain ham or turkey sandwich for lunch.

I hate cooking bacon though. Bacon is sort of like a two year old--- you have to watch it every second, it spits at you, it can be nice and calm one minute and angry and hurtful the next. I have gotten hot bacon grease spit on my hands more times than I can remember.

So finally I started cooking bacon in the oven. It's so much easier, you don't have to stand there tending it, and the clean up is a breeze!

Here's what to do:

Line a baking sheet with foil (if your baking sheet doesn't have an edge to it, be sure to fold up your foil to create an edge)
Place bacon slices next to each other, but not touching
Place your pans of bacon in a cold oven and then set the oven to 400 degrees
Set the timer for 15 minutes

When the 15 minutes is up, check it for crispiness. I've found the bacon can cook differently on different types of baking sheets too, so adjust your time to your level of "doneness".

When the foil and greased has cooled, just fold up the foil and throw it away!

  1. I don't even like bacon -- but the past 2 autumns, I've hosted a flutes breakfast for 25 girls in my daughter's band. I prepared bacon this way and totally recommend it! Much easier and less messy than using a frying pan!
